What do Iyengar yoga  classes consist of?  Balancing the right and left sides of your body so that your imbalances are no longer worked out on others.

If you choose a morning class, you will wake up gently and wake up slowly by flowing through lying, seated and standing weight bearing postures while being intensely gentle with yourself. Wake up and stretch and strengthen with spinal twists, hip openers, and modified back bends. Relax into this new space you’ve created within yourself. You’ll approach your day with quiet confidence. Notice the effects of becoming aligned and alert when you find your balance, gain awareness and focus. The wall will be your teacher as your center of gravity shifts in your efforts to maintain your balance, release into lateral bends, hold intense extensions and approach disorienting inversions, while synchronizing your movements with your breath. Stay with your breath, find your edge and maintain calm. Discover the benefits of achieving grace, joy and confidence as a result of becoming more mindful of your body and thought process. Find your home away from home by removing what binds you; remove the belts and buckles, kick off  the shoes, let go of the load you carry. Enjoy being supported and softly prompted through stress releasing poses. Chairs, bolsters, blocks, and straps are available to aid in building the strength/flexibility for those suffering from weak/rigid backs, ankles, legs, arms or wrists.You will love your renewed range of motion, improved posture, and spacious attitude.

HOW TO ARRIVE:
Wear non-binding clothing, no zippers, belts, and buttons. Bring a blanket/yoga mat.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes early before each class.
Downtown employees, residents, and students are encouraged to “hit the bricks” and walk to class.
The walking will prep you for an effective class experience by opening the lungs more fully to the breath.
